I've completed CITI training — when can I access the online application?
CITI completion reports are transferred electronically. Users who have completed the required courses for specific online research applications (e.g., ARO, PittPRO, IBC) will be granted access 24–48 hours after completion.
Who needs to complete the training courses?
Detailed information on required training is available on the Office of Research Protections Research Training Hub.
How do I access CITI?
Use the Pitt-designated CITI Access Portal and log in with your Pitt HSConnect account. Visit www.hsconnect.pitt.edu to create your account.
If you're unsure whether you have an account, email citi_support@pitt.edu or call 412-648-2222 to avoid creating duplicates.
If you already have a CITI account, you can enter your existing CITI username and password during login to link your previously completed training. See the CITI Instruction Sheet for full details.
How do I print my CITI Certificates?
Log in to the CITI Access Portal, click the Courses tab, and download your certificate or obtain a shareable link.
Do CITI courses offer CME/CEU credits, and what is the cost?
CME/CEU credits are available from CITI for a nominal fee. Click the CEUs tab at the top of the CITI page for details. Course completion itself is free unless you choose to purchase education credits.
Can I still access my previous training from the ISER site?
Yes. Visit cme.hs.pitt.edu, log in, and click the My Account link in the menu bar.
I've lost my Pitt affiliation and can no longer access my CITI page — what do I do?
- Retrieve your CITI username and password at citiprogram.org/forgotlogin.asp.
- Email citi_support@pitt.edu — support staff will remove you from the Pitt database and notify you when it's done.
- After receiving notification, go to www.citi.pitt.edu and click Login.
- Answer Yes when asked if you already have a CITI account.
- Use your CITI credentials from step 1 to re-link your CITI and HSConnect accounts.
Where can I verify that a researcher has completed CITI training?
CITI training can be verified through HSConnect in the same way ISER training was previously verified. You can view completed training and dates, though printing certificates is not currently available from this view.
How long does completed training take to show up in HSConnect?
CITI data is transferred nightly to HSConnect. Allow 24–48 hours for newly completed courses to appear.
